Set Up, Breakdown, Ticket Taker, Greeter, and Coat Check. All shifts are 4-5 hours long and generally require that you be able to stand on your feet, perform some physical labor, and have a friendly demeanor. It’s important to wear comfortable shoes and attire. Parking is available for $15 per day and if you use public transportation be sure to check the hours of operation before signing up for a volunteer shift. Here is a description of the Volunteer categories.
Set Up: Volunteers help with setting up the bookstore, decorating the hall, arranging tables and chairs, transporting items to booths, and other tasks. Volunteers should be able to lift 40 lbs., be on your feet for 4 hours or more, and be able to climb a ladder if needed.
Breakdown: Volunteers help with breaking down and packing up items after the close of the show on Sunday evening. This is a very physical job which requires strength and mobility to dismantle booth fixtures, tables, and stack chairs.
Greeter: Volunteers provide a friendly greeting to attendees, help with line control, and assist ticket takers.
Coat Check: Volunteers help with checking coats and items from attendees, volunteers, and speakers. Must be able to manage money and provide event information to attendees.
We have created a sign up site to help facilitate our volunteering process. We hope you find it easy and convenient.
