Cannabis and Spirituality: Principles, Practices, and Inspiration for Awakening
Cannabis is humanity’s ancient plant spirit ally and has been used as such for millennia. After a period of ignorance and suppression, a vigorous renaissance is unfolding. Stephen Gray’s mission is to honor “the people’s plant” and explain how its skillful, intentional use can deepen and accelerate the life-long journey of awakening to unconditioned reality. Discussion will include: a brief summary of historical spiritual use of cannabis; basic universal spiritual principles; ideas for working with our ancient ally in individual and group practice; how it can support other sacramental medicines; cautions and obstacles; and cannabis’s future role as humanity’s “sacrament of peace.”
Stephen Gray is a teacher, author, ceremony leader, and conference organizer on spiritual subjects, especially psychedelics. He has worked extensively with several sacramental medicine traditions. Mr. Gray is the author/editor of two books, most recently Cannabis and Spirituality: An Explorer’s Guide to an Ancient Plant Spirit Ally, (Park Street Press, 2016).
